[A]llerdale Borough Council is reminding residents of changes to bin collections, which will be one day later than usual next week following the Bank Holiday on Monday 28 August.

  • Monday 28th will be carried out on Tuesday 29th
  • Tuesday 29th will be carried out on Wednesday 30th
  • Wednesday 30th will be carried out on Thursday 31st
  • Thursday 31st will be carried out on Friday 1st
  • Friday 1st will be carried out on Saturday 2nd

More information is available by downloading the new myAllerdale app from the Apple, Google Play or Microsoft stores, where residents can check bin collection dates, report a missed collection, and check for anything that could affect collections, or visit www.allerdale.gov.uk/bincollections.

Details of the opening times for the Household Waste Recycling Centres are available from Cumbria County Council at: www.cumbria.gov.uk/.

All Council offices will close on Friday 25 August at 4.30pm, and will reopen at 9am* on Tuesday 29 August (*Allerdale House opens at 8:45am). The Cockermouth office, which is now based in the library on Main Street, will close Friday at 4pm and reopen on the Tuesday at 10am. Please note that while the Cockermouth Council office is closed for the bank holiday, the library services will remain open.

Customers can also access many other Council services via the myAllerdale app or on the Council website – 24 hours a day, seven days a week – including bill payments, reporting issues such as fly tipping or dog fouling, or viewing planning applications. Visit www.allerdale.gov.uk for details.

It is also possible to sign up for paperless billing and manage all council tax payments electronically via the Council’s online service. Visit www.allerdale.gov.uk/ctaxonline for more information and to register.

In case of emergency, call the Council’s out of hours service on 0303 123 1702.
