[M]embers of the public are being invited to open the lid on University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust (UHMBT), and take a closer look at the Trust’s services and the improvements made by staff, at this year’s Annual Members’ Meeting.

The event, which is open to all of the Foundation Trust Members and members of the public, will take place on Thursday 21 September 2017, between 10:30am and 2:10pm, at The Forum, Barrow-in-Furness.

Members of the public are invited to arrive for 10:30am on the day, with the formal meeting starting at 10.45am. There will be a film showcasing the Trust’s highlights from over the past year. This will be followed by a question and answer session, allowing members of the public to ask the Chief Executive and Chair any questions they may have.

Lunch will be provided for those that attend, following which a market place will be held featuring stalls from various Trust services, partner organisations and voluntary groups. These stalls are an opportunity for people to find out more about the services and speak to staff and representatives about the work they do.

The Trust’s Annual Accounts and Report of External Auditors will also be presented towards the end of the meeting, with copies available for attendees to take away.

Pearse Butler, UHMBT Chairman

Pearse Butler, Chairman at UHMBT, said: “Our Annual Members’ Meeting is always one of the highlights of the year for me as it is a great opportunity for us to talk directly to our members and the public about what we have been doing to improve services over the last year, and what we are planning in the year to come.

“In keeping with previous events we have kept the market place which gives people the chance to talk to staff about their service. We are also being treated to a special ‘move it or lose it’ demonstration by the Royal Voluntary Service. Move it or lose it shares top tips on how to stay active as we get older and will be a great way to focus everyone for the rest of the afternoon. Later The Well will provide a presentation with service users sharing their real life experiences.

“We look forward to welcoming our members and the public to the event, and hope that as many people as possible can join us on the day.”
