[A] MAN who repeatedly assaulted his wife only weeks after they were married has been sentenced at Carlisle Crown Court.
Two of Wisdom Patrick Lee’s attacks on Natalia Mason occurred in the Penrith area following their Las Vegas wedding in December.
One occurred after a night out in the town on Boxing Day, when 30-year-old Lee slapped and punched Miss Mason, leaving her bruised and swollen. In mid-January, he attacked her inside a caravan, dragging her from a bed by her hair – a clump of which was yanked from her head.
“She says the more she screamed,” prosecutor Gerard Rogerson told the court, “the worse it got.”
Lee admitted four assault charges, two incidents occurring in the Blackpool area. He also admitted putting a person in fear of violence by harassment between December and March.
Having already served the equivalent of a 10-month prison term, Lee, of Bridge House Road, Blackpool, was made subject to a 12-month community order. He must complete 180 hours’ unpaid work and rehabilitation, and was banned from contacting Miss Mason for a decade.
“You brought shame upon her,” Lee was told by Judge Peter Davies.
