[P]lan now for this evening’s peak travel.

That’s the message from Northern to customers planning to use trains this evening.

As a result of strike action Northern is operating amended rail timetables and expects those services which are running to be extremely busy.

Sharon Keith

Sharon Keith, Regional Director for Northern, said: “Our amended timetables mean our services will start to wind down from around 5pm and there will be very few after 7pm.

“It is vital that our customers start thinking now about how they will get home this evening.

“Our train services – and rail replacement buses – will be extremely busy as the evening rush hour arrives and we urge everyone to plan ahead.”

Sharon added: “So far today we have operated more than 850 rail services and are on track to run around 1,200 by the end of day.

“I’d like to thank our customers for the patience and understanding they have shown today, and also the Northern staff who have helped to keep the north of England on the move.”
