Maryport man, 23, dies after High Harrington crash

[P]olice have confirmed that a man has died following a road traffic collision which occurred in the early hours of yesterday morning (October 22nd).

Officers were called to the collision on Scaw Road, High Harrington, at 2.54am, following reports that a Ford Fiesta had collided with a tree.

The driver, a 23-year-old Maryport man, was taken to the RVI in Newcastle where he has since died as a result of his injuries.

A 20-year-old female passenger, from Scotland, was also taken to the RVI where she remains in a critical condition.

Two other male passengers, both from Maryport, were taken to the West Cumberland Hospital. One suffered serious injuries and remains in hospital, the other has been discharged.

Another male passenger, from Salterbeck, was taken to the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle, where he also remains with serious injuries.

Anyone with information about the collision is asked to contact police on 101 and ask to speak to PC 391 Kelso.
