[L]ocal MP Tim Farron has raised over £800 for local mental health charity South Lakeland Mind after running a half marathon in Kendal this weekend.

Tim and running partner Dom Merchant were planning to run the Great Langdale Half Marathon on Saturday but the event was cancelled at the last minute due to concerns over Storm Brian.

Despite the cancellation – and the bad weather – the pair were still determined to run.

So, Tim and Dom decided to do their own half marathon instead, running over 14 miles across Kendal, taking in both Scout Scar and Kendal Helm.

Tim said: “When we found out the half marathon was cancelled we were absolutely gutted.

“But after raising so much for such a vital charity, we were determined to run a half marathon of some sort.

“Thank you so much to everyone who has supported us and donated money – South Lakeland Mind are an incredible charity and the money raised will go a long way towards helping those with mental health problems in our area.”
