[T]he Cumberland has won the ‘Best Customer Service’ award at the Mortgage Finance Gazette awards, held in London on Tuesday 14 November. It was also named ‘Best Regional Building Society’ for the fourth successive year.
The ‘Best Customer Service’ award was given to the bank or building society that had exceeded its customers’ expectations and provided positive improvements during the previous year. The Cumberland was recognised for its customer experience programme and its work to protect its vulnerable customers.
The title of ‘Best Regional Building Society’ was awarded for offering the most consistently competitive mortgage rates over the previous 12 months, and this is now the sixth time the Cumberland has received the prestigious accolade.
Peter Temple, deputy chief executive at the Cumberland, collected the award from Joanne Atkin, editor of Mortgage Finance Gazette. He said, “We’re extremely pleased to collect the ‘Best Customer Service’ award. We pride ourselves on great service, but we’re always looking for ways we can improve. Our customer experience programme was introduced to look at what we do from a customer viewpoint, with the aim of making our mortgage and banking services easier, quicker and more convenient, and it’s great to see our efforts recognised at a national level. We’re also delighted to be named the Best Regional Building Society again. This is further proof of our commitment to providing great value mortgages.”
