Woman, 89, killed in A65 crash

[P]olice are appealing for witnesses to a fatal road traffic collision on the A65 near Austwick, Settle to contact them.

At approximately 10.45am on Saturday 18 November 2017, a small silver coloured Nissan Micra hatchback was travelling on the A65 from Settle in the direction of Ingleton, when it left the road and collided with a tree near Austwick.

Sadly the passenger in the vehicle, an 89-year-old woman from Morley in Leeds, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, an 87-year-old woman from Morley in Leeds, sustained serious injuries and was taken by air ambulance to Preston Hospital where she later died from her injuries.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the collision, or anyone who saw the car travelling along the A65 prior to the collision to contact them, to help them establish the circumstances around the incident.
