[A] WHITEHAVEN man who committed two cannabis supply crimes has been sentenced by a judge.
Curtis Percival’s offending was uncovered after police investigated a car in the town which appeared to be overladen. Passenger Percival fled the scene, discarding several wraps of cannabis and one of cocaine as he was chased.
These were recovered by police, who found more cannabis in his bedroom along with a mobile phone which contained drug-related texts.
Percival, of Jefferson Park, Whitehaven, later confessed to buying cannabis which he passed to friends at cost price for no profit. Carlisle Crown Court heard he had a £240-a-week habit.
Percival, a 22-year-old man of previous good character, was sentenced having admitted three crimes. These were supplying cannabis, possessing the class B drug with intent to supply, and the possession of cocaine.
A 12-month community order was imposed by Recorder Julie Clemitson. This includes rehabilitation, a six-month night-time curfew and 36 attendance centre hours.
