[O]n the evening of 7 December, businesses in the Upper Eden area attended a networking event to find out how to grow their businesses, access funding and hear about the help that is available to them.
The event organised by the Upper Eden Community Interest Company in partnership with Invest in Eden, is the first of 4 events to take place over the next year.
Project Officer for the Upper Eden CIC said:
“I was delighted to welcome so many of the business people I have been working with to the event. The theme for the evening was funding. Our guest speakers were Grahame Latus from Enterprise Answers and Sam Bramwell from Cumbria County Council. Delegates were able to find out about a wide range of finance options as well as information on LEADER Funding to support businesses.”
“This is the first of four events we will be hosting over the next year and I hope our network can grow and become sustainable.”
The events form part of a 12 month project funded by Eden District Council to support businesses in the area and refresh the Upper Eden Community Plan, which was one of the first of its kind in England when it was launched in 2008.
It is hoped that these events will continue beyond the life of the project and become self sustaining and continue to be a benefit to the local economy.
The event saw guest speakers from the Upper Eden CIC, Enterprise Answers and Cumbria County Council.
