Students took part in a quiz organised by Furness College Students’ Union at Barrow Sixth Form College to raise donations for Barrow Foodbank

[S]tudents and staff from Furness College’s two campuses have raised hundreds of pounds for good causes in the community this Christmas.

The annual Channelside campus Christmas Fair raised funds for St Mary’s Hospice with an array of stalls including tombolas, raffles and games, supported by staff and students.

Students and staff donated to St Mary’s Hospice or Barrow Foodbank by donning their best Christmas clothing at the event, which took place on Thursday 14th December.

College staff have also been joining in with St Mary’s Hospice Share A Card appeal and making a donation to the hospice in lieu of sending Christmas cards.

Over £400 has been raised in total for St Mary’s Hospice, as well as a large amount of donations to Barrow Foodbank.

At the Rating Lane campus, the newly formed Students’ Union hosted a Christmas quiz on Thursday 14th December to encourage donations to Barrow Foodbank.

President Callum Slater hosted ‘Merry Quizmas’ to test the general knowledge of students and staff.

Eight teams took part, with hundreds of essential food items collected to support the Foodbank this festive season.

The Students’ Union also took part in fundraising for Save the Children’s annual Christmas Jumper Day as part of their festive frolics.
