Sealy sponsors Carlisle pantomime Sleeping Beauty

[S]ealy UK is today announcing that it will become an official sponsor of the region’s biggest pantomime, Sleeping Beauty, with one of its top-of-the-range beds making a special guest cameo appearance!

The classic fairy tale involves a curse being placed on the young princess by an evil queen, which is fulfilled when she pricks her finger on a spindle and falls asleep for a century, only to be woken by a kiss from a handsome prince.

However, in the interests of keeping to the script, Sleeping Beauty will not be falling asleep on a Sealy – with its luxurious comfort and support, the prince might never be able to wake her! Instead, it will be featured in a cameo appearance, with characters Nurse Nora the Night Nurse and Chester the Jester.

The Sands Centre pantomimes are a firm Christmas favourite in the region and beyond. It is set to welcome around 25,000 people to the theatre over 35 performances throughout December.  In the show, Sealy’s bed will join a star-studded cast including Peppa Pig’s Emma Grace Arends, 911 lead singer Lee Brennan, EastEnders actress Cheryl Fergison, as well as Cumbria’s very own Robbie Dee as the Dame.

With Cumbria being the location of Sealy’s head office, this year’s pantomime was an obvious choice for the bed brand. The deal will also see Sealy advertising in the show’s programme, across the venue and via a scripted performance during the show. A month-long prize draw will also be run giving a member of the audience a chance to win their very own Sealy bed so they too can experience whole new levels of comfort.

Sealy Marketing Controller, Holly Housby, said: “Our mission is to help people achieve a great night’s sleep, so when we found out this year’s pantomime was Sleeping Beauty we couldn’t think of a more perfect partnership! We’re all excited for a Sealy mattress to be featured in the performance.”

Jonathan Higgins from the Sands Centre, Carlisle said: “It’s great to have Sealy involved in this year’s performance. We’re currently doing some final rehearsals ahead of our opening performances on the 11th December, and we’ll be doing our best to keep the bed as far away from Sleeping Beauty as possible!”
