[A]nyone interested in becoming an on-call firefighter in Cumbria should apply as soon as possible.
Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service is currently recruiting on-call firefighters for fire stations throughout Cumbria (full list of locations here).
Men and women from all backgrounds are invited to apply for these roles. Applications will close at 5pm on 12 January 2018.
On-call firefighters are a vital part of Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service. They often have another job and rather than being based at a fire station, they provide on-call cover from home or work. They respond to emergencies when their pager alerts them, so must live or work near the fire station.
Cllr Janet Willis, Cumbria County Council Cabinet member for Fire and Safety, said: “On-call firefighters play a vital role in keeping our communities safe in Cumbria. If you’re looking for a new challenge in 2018, becoming an on-call firefighter is really rewarding and could be perfect for you. There’s lots of information about the role and how to apply on our website, so don’t wait until your New Year resolutions start in January – go online and apply today.”
Successful applicants will receive full training in the role of a professional firefighter.
