[A] new Partner has joined Burnetts’ “exceptional” HR & Employment team.

The seven-strong team of dedicated employment law and HR professionals was joined by solicitor Nigel Crebbin at the end of 2017.

Nigel joins Burnetts after 17 years as a Partner in respected Greater Manchester law firms Gorvins, Berg (now Kennedys) and Taylors. With over 20 years’ experience in employment law, he is particularly skilled at helping businesses identify and resolve potential issues early on before they become problematic.

He has worked extensively with SMEs and in the wider commercial sector, advising on issues including business sales, equal opportunities, re-structures and redundancies, disciplinary issues, employment contracts and policies. Nigel is especially interested in business transfers and will work closely with Burnetts’ corporate team providing employment law support on business sales and acquisitions.

Nigel said, “Everyone at Burnetts has been extremely welcoming and I am very much enjoying meeting my new colleagues and the firm’s many clients. My brief is to take the lead on nurturing and developing the commercial sector in Cumbria and to strengthen links with business groups. I’m currently based in the Penrith office which is a good central location to travel around the county getting to know clients, the business community and Cumbrian geography. It is a beautiful part of the world.”

A Cambridge University graduate, Nigel is a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and the Employment Lawyers’ Association. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his young family, running and is a keen Liverpool FC supporter, although he promises to develop an interest in Carlisle United!

Natalie Ruane, Head of Employment & HR at Burnetts said, “We are delighted to welcome Nigel to Burnetts. He brings a fresh and dynamic perspective to the HR & Employment team and will focus on our work in the commercial sector. With more than 20 years’ experience as an employment lawyer, he has already shown himself to be pro-active in getting to know our commercial clients and in providing clients with straightforward and clear advice. We have invested heavily in our employment advisers over the last 18 months and now have a seven-strong team which can provide specialist support to employers throughout Cumbria.”

Burnetts’ HR & Employment lawyers were recently described as “exceptional” by the Legal 500 which also described the team as having “carved out a well-earned reputation for the sheer quality of the lawyers”. The Legal 500 is one of the leading guides to the legal profession which includes law firms only on merit and after months of research.
