[B]arrow CID are investigating the death of a 41-year-old man in the early hours of Sunday 21 January.
Police were called by NWAS at 1am after an unresponsive man was found in a ground floor flat on Broad Close in Barrow.
Paramedics pronounced the man deceased a short time later.
Detective Sgt Mike Wallace of South Cumbria CID confirmed an investigation is underway into the circumstances surrounding the death.
A spokesman for Cumbria Police said: “The man has yet to be formally identified.
“A 46-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of supplying controlled drugs.
“She was later released while investigations into the death continue.
“HM Coroner will be updated in due course.”
