[F]ollowing a fatal road collision on Saturday, September 8 2016, the driver of an HGV vehicle has appeared at North and West Cumbria Magistrates Court, in Carlisle and pleaded not-guilty to a charge of ‘causing death by dangerous driving’.
Ashley Cole, 56, he gave his address as Mellor Lea Farm, Ecclesfield, Sheffield.
The fatal accident took place at around 5.22am and involved an HGV Scania lorry and an Audi A4 on the A66 road near to the Staimore café at Brough, Kirkby Stephen.
The driver of the Audi A4 was Jamie Armstrong, 30, from Halthwistle, he died at the scene, the road remained closed until about 2pm for accident investigation and recovery work to take place.
Mr Cole having pleaded not guilty to the accusation will next appear at Carlisle Crown Court on March 9.
