Residents’ feedback informs health and care plans for Alston Moor

[T]he Alston Alliance is keen to show how the feedback received about the plans for health and care on Alston Moor is being used.  In order to do this they have now published a document that answers some of the questions and concerns that were highlighted by residents.

Feedback was sent to the Alliance via email, letter and through one-to-one conversations at an open day held at the hospital in December 2017. It has been used to inform the plans that will be submitted to the North Cumbria Clinical Commissioning Group in April.

Claire Driver, County Councillor for Alston Moor and East Fellside, said: “We are so grateful to all the people who came to the open day to talk about the plans and also to all those people who took the time to write or email their thoughts. As a group we are determined that this plan is something that belongs to the people of Alston Moor and not simply something that is being given to us.

“The feedback we got was really helpful and pointed out some things that were missing from the plans – such as the use of apprentices – and also highlighted where more explanation was needed.”

Malcolm Forster from the League of Friends added: “This plan is a working document that will develop and evolve as the needs of the people on Alston Moor change, so it is not possible to answer all the questions people have yet. We hope by publishing this feedback document, before the plans are even submitted, that we can give reassurance that we have read, listened and actioned the comments and queries we received. We are all committed to continuing this process.

“It is important to note that, although we have summarised the feedback in this document, the feedback in full will be included in the final overall plans that are submitted to the CCG.”

The feedback document can be read here or can be picked up from the hospital.

Feedback from the Wigton public events is also being added in full to the Alliance plan which is being submitted in April.
