[C]umberland FA has announced that the winners from its FA People’s Cup Round One event at SoccerWorld in Carlisle will be competing in the semi-finals at Powerleague in Manchester this weekend (24-25 March 2018).

The FA People’s Cup is a small-sided competition, run in partnership with BBC Get Inspired. Last year, 35,000 players took part nationwide, and this year Cumberland FA hosted a county round of the competition at SoccerWorld in Carlisle, with more than 50 local teams across 12 separate competitions taking part.

The winners of Round One will now compete at Powerleague in Manchester this weekend (24-25 March), hoping to book a place in this year’s final at St George’s Park.

Almost 300 players took park in Round One last month, with some fantastic football on display across all categories. The Round One winners were as follows:

  • Under 14 Girls: Stanwix FC
  • Under 16 Girls: Carlisle City FC
  • Women: Stanwix FC

  • Under 14: Unisun Athletic JFC
  • Under 16: Garlands FC
  • Adult Male: Deer Orchard FC
  • Male Veterans (Over 35s): Harraby Catholic Club FC
  • Walking Football: Carlisle United Football in the Community

  • Adult Disability Premier League: Carlisle United Mental Health
  • Adult Disability Championship: Carlisle Mencap FC 1
  • Adult Disability League: Carlisle Mencap 2
  • Junior Disability: Thompsons FC PAN Disability

Ray Sempill, Cumberland FA Football Development Officer, said: “We’re delighted to have hosted a local competition this year, which was well received by local teams, and I’d like to wish all the county winners the very best of luck representing Cumberland at the semi-finals this weekend.”

Andy Sharpe of Carlisle United FITC Walking Football, added: “We at Carlisle Utd FITC Walking Football are looking forward to the next round in Manchester on 24 March. We know, from having played regularly in competitions in Lancashire, that there will be a high standard of teams on the day. We have one or two injuries being nursed but hope to put in a decent effort and represent our small county against the southern giants!”

Cumberland FA would like to thank SoccerWorld for hosting Round One in February and wishes all of its local teams the very best of luck in the semi-finals this weekend.
