[A] DOG-LOVER has boosted his business pedigree with the completion of an apprenticeship.
Rob Mason, who works at Horse & Husky in Bootle, reached “the highest standards” in Level 2 Business Administration, according to his tutor.
Rob’s role at Horse & Husky combines accompanying customers on ‘mushing’ and hiking sessions with the pack of huskies, in addition to the bookings and marketing aspects of the business.
“My job here is very enjoyable,” said Rob, 22 of Bootle. “It’s great to experience both sides of the role; my love of being outdoors and active with the dogs, to the business administration and behind-the-scenes aspect.
“The apprenticeship has been a great experience and has taught me key skills for the job, but has also improved my confidence and communication skills.”
Rob completed his apprenticeship through Lakes College West Cumbria. His tutor Nicola McMullen said: “Rob has worked to the highest standard and exceeded all targets. His manager here, Sonia Gager-Tomkinson, has been a great support, accommodating his studying and our assessment visits from the college.”
Mrs Gager-Tomkinson added: “Rob has been an excellent apprentice and is a huge help to the business. Lakes College have been tremendously supportive and the apprenticeship has been run extremely well.”
Rob was supported into the apprenticeship by the Copeland Work & Skills Partnership, led by Copeland Council and funded by Copeland Community Fund.
Mike Starkie, Mayor of Copeland, joined Nicola McMullen to present Rob with his certificate. Mr Starkie said: “I’d like to congratulate Rob on completing his apprenticeship. It’s clear he loves his job and is a real asset to Horse & Husky.
“It’s extremely rewarding to see first-hand the great work that the Copeland Work and Skills Partnership does in supporting people like Rob achieve their potential.”
