[C]umbrian based Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ training provider Gen2, has just been named as “Apprenticeship Provider of the Year” at the inaugural Annual Apprenticeship Conference (AAC).

Representatives from Gen2’s Executive Team and the City & Guilds Group were awarded at the ceremony which took place on Thursday 22nd March at the International Convention Centre in Birmingham.

FE Week and AELP announced the full shortlist of the nominees for the AAC Apprenticeship Awards in association with CMI earlier in February.
Gen2 were one of ten national nominees having previously been recognised as a regional winner by the AAC awards at the beginning of March at the House of Commons in London, against tough competition from training providers such as Babcock Training Ltd, Construction Engineering Training Board (CITB) and Barnsley College.

Gen2 were praised for commitment to apprenticeships across its whole business with the judges commenting that “they provided data that demonstrated the quality of their provision, including through the employer satisfaction survey, which gave high scores, significantly above national average”. “Timely success rates are consistently high and in 2016/17, 94 per cent of apprentice learners had a positive destination outcome.”

Gen2 Chief Executive Officer, Mike Smith OBE, said: “We are tremendously proud to have been named “Apprenticeship Provider of the Year”. To be awarded this prestigious award is a testament of our staff’s hard work and commitment in ensuring young people in Cumbria are provided with world class skills in such specialist areas. It is also a testament to the vast repertoire of well renowned companies we work with in helping us deliver in these
apprenticeships.”
