[F]ormerly known as the Success Awards, the Salute Awards will be a night to remember for students, staff, friends and guests of the University of Cumbria.

This year’s awards will take place over three evenings to celebrate the fantastic nominees from our different campuses who make the university a pleasure to study and work at. The celebrations will kick off on 16th April in Ambleside at the picturesque Brathay Hall, then move to Carlisle on 18th April at Hallmark Hotel; UCSU and UoC will close the week in Lancaster on 20th April at Lancaster House Hotel.

Guests will be greeted with a formal reception and served a three course meal before the awards are presented by the UCSU full time elected Officers; Rowan Cooper-Gritten, Hannah Price and Anna Fletcher. In attendance at the events will be representatives from the Vice Chancellor’s Office and the University Board, UCSU’s Trustee Board, representatives of the university’s academic departments, the Dean of Student Success, and the Head of Staff and Student Services. Many of our attendees will be giving speeches at the events to further celebrate UoC’s diverse members and their achievements this year.

Awards that will be given out at the events will include Student of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Special Mention Award, Lecturer of the Year, Society of the Year, Sportsperson of the Year and Representative of the Year.

We would love to have members of the press at the events to join us in celebrating those that make the university, and the communities it is a part of, wonderful places to be.

Tickets and further information are available at www.ucsu.me/salute2018 – please note that the ticket deadline for the Ambleside awards is Monday 9thApril, and the deadline for the Carlisle and Lancaster Awards is Wednesday 11th April.

A full breakdown of award winners, quotes and photos from the night will be available on our website at www.ucsu.me/salute2018 after the final event.
