[A] free event for new parents, carers and their families is taking place on Friday 20 April between 10am and 1pm at Barrow Library.

The ‘Bumps, Babies and Beyond’ event is aimed at expectant parents and people who care for children aged five and under.

The event will include baby massage demonstrations, Health Visitors offering advice and support, hypnobirthing advice and information, a children’s dental hygienist, local baby shops displaying their clothes and products, Sign-along Story sessions (especially for people who use sign language), a breastfeeding guidance demonstration, as well as a smoothie and healthy snacks bar.

There’s also a free prize draw to win pamper hampers and baby goods, as well as free refreshments provided by the Co-op.

Cllr Deborah Earl, Cabinet Member for Public Health and Communities, said: “This will be a fantastic event for expectant or new parents, carers, and their families. Pregnancy and parenthood can be a challenging time for families and events like this offer an opportunity to get all the support, advice and guidance you need to get the most out of the experience and most importantly, to enjoy it!

“You’ll also be able to meet other new parents or expectant parents and make friends with others who are going through the same experience as you! I’d urge anyone who is expecting or who’s just had their little one to come along and enjoy this free event.”
