Carlisle man charged with making and possessing indecent images of children

[A] Carlisle man has been charged with three-offences of making and possessing indecent images of children.

The offences are alleged to have occurred between November 25, 2002 and October 13, 2017, between April 6, 2010 and October 13, 2017 he is charged with possession of a prohibited image of a child and one charge of possession of extreme pornographic image of a child, between January 26, 2009 and October 13, 2017.

Peter James Challands, 42, gave is address as St Mellion Close, Belah, Carlisle, when he appeared at North and West Cumbria Magistrates Court.

No plea was entered to the allegations today.

Official court papers show that within the five allegations there are over 10,000 indecent images of children, including category A, the most serious classification and categories B and C.

Challands will next appear at Carlisle Crown Court on May 29.
