[E]mergency services are dealing with a serious road traffic collision near the HSBC bank on Devonshire Street in Penrith.
Police were called at 2:15pm.
The collision involves a Mercedes car and a female pedestrian.
A car has appeared to mount the pavement, hit a female pedestrian outside HSBC bank, crashed through the metal railings and hit a silver hatch back car before finally crashing into a parked car outside The Edinburgh Woollen Mill shop on Market Square.
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “The woman has suffered serious leg injuries and has been taken to hospital.
“Following the collision it appears the Mercedes has then collided with two other cars.
An air ambulance has attended the scene.
Roads around the area have been closed.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area and find an alternative route.
