[I]n celebration for the Royal Wedding this weekend, the team at family run, Gretna Green Famous Blacksmiths Shop are treating the children of Sparklers Nursery in Gretna to a special Royal themed event on 17 May 2018.

The group of preschool children will be treated to a fun and interactive experience in the Famous Blacksmiths Shop where they will learn about the history of Gretna Green at an event designed specifically for them.

The children will be joined by Mackie and Mille bear, the Famous Blacksmiths Shops cuddly mascots, and will have the opportunity to enjoy snacks in the Love Conservatory and take home their very own VIP goody bag.

Isabel Rhodes, General Manager of Gretna Green commented: “We’re delighted to be hosting the kids (and staff) from Sparklers Nursery. It’s a fantastic opportunity for the team in the Famous Blacksmiths Shop to assist in the education of young people from the local community and give them a special day out that is relevant to them. We’re hoping we can create a fun and memorable experience for the children and show them all the fun things there are to do at the visitor attraction.”

The staff at the five-star victor attraction are hoping to build on this activity and host more educational activities for local children over the course of 2018.

Susan Clark, Director of Gretna Green Ltd says: “There is so much history surrounding the Famous Blacksmiths Shop and with a host of wonderful stories to tell. We want to share these stories with the children and young people in the surrounding area and show them just how culturally significant Gretna Green is to the history of the region.”

The Sparklers Nursery event is just one of the many activities Greta Green Ltd have planned for 2018 to engage with the local community and share the rich history of this historic attraction.
