[T]he Cumbria and South West Scotland office of award-winning housebuilder, Story Homes, has committed to supporting 10 charities and community groups which applied for funding in the fourth quarter of its ‘Future Story’ scheme.
This is a company-wide programme designed to support sponsorship or donation requests from charities and community organisations that surround Story Homes’ developments in Cumbria, south Scotland, the North East and the North West.
The housebuilder accepts applications via its website all year round, with a regional committee reviewing submissions on a quarterly basis. Over 60 organisations were supported in total throughout the 2017/18 financial year.
Appleby & District First Responders, Biggar Corn Exchange, Carlisle Futsal Club, Cockermouth Cricket Club, Cockermouth Golf Club, Cockermouth School, Hospice at Home (West Cumbria), North Lakes School, Seaton Rangers ARLFC and Thursby 1st Rainbows and Brownies have all been selected to receive a financial contribution.
Projects that Story Homes will support this quarter include the provision of a potentially life-saving defibrillator unit, an Arts Awards Programme for Thursby 1st Rainbows and Brownies and sponsorship of Hospice at Home’s annual West Cumbria Colour Run.
Story Homes is also pleased to be able to support three Cockermouth-based initiatives this quarter, including; the renovation of the Cockermouth Cricket Clubhouse, a Pro-Am competition at Cockermouth Golf Club and sponsorship of the ‘Celebration of Achievement Evening’ at Cockermouth School.
Claire Rawlinson, Junior Co-ordinator at Cockermouth Cricket Club said: “Over the last few years Cockermouth Cricket Club has actively encouraged families, including younger juniors and ‘Women and Girls’ to play cricket, support our senior and junior teams and join our club. The refurbishment of our clubhouse will make the whole experience more inviting – leading to the continued success of our club. It also allows us to reach out to the local area to provide an alternative venue for community events.”
Ian Storey, Managing Director for Story Homes in Cumbria & South West Scotland, commented: “From sponsoring grassroots sporting organisations, through to the provision of potential life-saving equipment, we endeavour to support local charities and organisations in ways that add long term value. It is great to be able to help another ten organisations this quarter, all of which are doing fantastic work for the community in a variety of fields.
“The homes we build are part of wider communities, so helping charities and groups that neighbour our developments is very important to us. As we move into the second phase of our Story Homes development in Cockermouth, we are very pleased to be able to offer support to three Cockermouth-based organisations this quarter. We look forward to seeing how their projects progress, and to supporting even more charities and community groups around the region throughout the next financial year.”
Story Homes is now inviting charities and community groups to apply for support in the first quarter of the 2018/19 financial year. Applications for sponsorship, donations or raffle prizes should be made by completing the form at storyhomes.co.uk/sustainable-story.
