Carlisle Crown Court

[A] WOMAN allegedly kidnapped and raped by a man in Carlisle told police: “I tried to stop him. I tried to push him off.”

Moving video evidence from a female who has made a string of allegations about Luke Thompson was played to a jury at the city’s crown court. Thompson, 24, is on trial and denies alleged physical and sexual violence which is said to date back several years.

Jurors watched a video recording of an interview the female gave to police who became aware of allegations in late 2016. She described an alleged kidnap and rape by Thompson in Carlisle late one night after, she said, he pulled her into an address in the Upperby area.

Inside he kissed her and was, she said, “pawing at me”. “I told him to stop and he didn’t say anything. He just carried on,” she told an officer. “I tried to stop him. I tried to push him off.”

She said she was “scared” to call for help afterwards, and described feeling “dirty”.

Thompson, of no fixed address, denies four rape charges, one alleged kidnap and a further charge alleging sexual assault.

He further denies using controlling and coercive behaviour towards another woman.

The trial continues.
