[W]est Lakes Academy in Egremont has announced that it became a Multi-Academy Trust, with Sponsor Status, on 1st June 2018.

The three principal sponsor organisations, The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, Sellafield Ltd and the University of Central Lancashire, will continue to sponsor the Multi-Academy Trust.

Jonathan Johnson, Principal of West Lakes Academy and Chief Executive of the Multi-Academy Trust said: “We submitted our application in the autumn of 2017 and I am delighted that following approval by the Regional Schools Commissioner we have made the legal transformation to a Multi-Academy Trust (MAT). Within our MAT all schools who join will be governed by the same Trust that oversees West Lakes Academy.”

“We are all very excited about this next stage in our development. We aspire to be the most respected Trust rather than the largest and our vision, our distinction, is to succeed in ‘Changing Lives through Learning’ by providing the very best educational opportunities for each child.

“Naturally we want to reassure students, parents and carers that it is business as usual at West Lakes Academy as we continue to work with each child to provide them with the education they need to achieve their ambitions for a successful and happy future.”
