[A] PENRITH man could receive a prison sentence after he admitted harassing and assaulting his ex-partner.
David Johnathan Bailey, 38, pleaded guilty to two offences when he appeared at Carlisle Crown Court earlier today (FRI).
Bailey denied the alleged stalking of Alyson Hetherington between February 1 and July 21 last year, but admitted a charge of harassment. He also admitted assaulting Miss Hetherington, causing her actual bodily harm, between July 1 and August 15 in 2016.
The court heard the victim was Bailey’s former partner. “In February, 2017, it was made clear to him by the complainant that was it – no more contact was required,” said prosecutor Tim Evans.
But Bailey then made unwanted contact.
Judge James Adkin adjourned the case and asked for detailed information to be prepared. “The report from probation service will look at your background, other offences you have committed and why you commit offences against women,” said the judge.
Judge Adkin had previous requested the report for an “assessment of the risk the defendant presents to his former partner and others”.
Bailey, of Stricklandgate, Penrith, was granted conditional bail and is due to receive his punishment at the crown court on July 13. “I make no promises as to what the sentence will be. All options are available,” the judge added.
