[T]he launch of new restaurant, FYR (pronounced fire) in Penrith brings a new dining experience to Cumbria.
Opening last month, the centrepiece of the restaurant is an open fire grill where diners can watch the team of chefs transform regionally sourced ingredients into tempting dishes in the heart of the restaurant, creating a culinary visual experience to savour.
The brainchild of executive chef Doug Hargreaves, FYR offers diners the chance to experience the theatre of dining while watching the chefs create their masterpieces at the grill. Whether it is sirloin, rib eye, fillet or the FYR signature steak, all are aged for a minimum of 28 days and cooked to the diners’ exact specifications. The grill menu also features a choice of chicken or fish kebabs. To complete each dish is a serving of the best goose fat chips.
Sundays at FYR will be an all-day dining event bringing families and groups of friends together for a wonderful sharing experience. With roast sirloin of British beef or a lemon, garlic and herb marinated spatchcock chicken, served with the perfect selection of vegetables and potatoes, this will be a great take on the traditional family Sunday lunch.
FYR will be running a series of specialist steak evenings when diners can sample delights such as Tomahawk or T-bone steaks cooked to perfection. The team at FYR will also run masterclasses in grilling to share their expertise and knowledge.
Details of the menus and events at FYR can be found at the restaurant’s new website https://fyrgrill.co.uk.
FYR, in the North Lakes Hotel & Spa, represents a part of the property’s £3 million refurbishment programme. The interior design strongly draws on inspiration from the stunning Cumbrian countryside blending rustic charm with modern touches. The artwork on display showcases the beautiful vistas that the Lake District offers and creates a welcoming and homely feel. The different spaces in the restaurant offer settings suitable for large groups, families, those seeking a quiet corner or for people to enjoy afternoon tea.
The menu at FYR also features classics such as confit of lamb shepherd’s pie, Thwaites beer battered fish and chips and homemade heirloom tomato, basil and mozzarella ravioli.
