[O]n Friday 29th of June, Cumbria based local career management and personal development company Inspira is celebrating Employability Day with activities in their centres and taking their services on the road and into local communities.

“Employability Day is a day of celebration for organisations helping jobseekers and those already in work gain and progress in their career. Hundreds of employment support centres and employers are throwing open their doors to raise awareness about what they do to help people into work, we have also decided to take our services on the road too,” said Sarah Harrington, Director at Inspira.

Inspira will be promoting pre-employment programmes focusing on different sectors such as hospitality, cleaning, retail and health and social care, as well as the national youth programme National Citizen Service.

“Many people associate Inspira with help for young people or long term unemployed people,” continued Sarah,” In fact we can help a whole range of people from mothers and carers looking to return to the workforce, people thinking of restarting their career, to helping people understand the courses, training and adult apprenticeships available in the area.”

In Barrow, the centre is open for enrolments onto their Care Sector pre-employment programme and have an awards ceremony in the afternoon for local people who have completed the NHS work placements.

In Workington, the leader of Allerdale Council will be visiting the centre to talk to members of the Job Club.

In Carlisle the team are holding a Hospitality Fair with ten employers talking about their sector and the live vacancies they have.

While in South Cumbria Inspira plans to visit the following libraries: Coniston (9am – 9:30am), Ambleside (10am-12pm), Windermere (1pm-1:30pm), Sedbergh (2:30pm-3pm), Kirkby Lonsdale (3pm-4pm), Milnthorpe (4.30pm-5pm). Experienced staff will be on hand to answer any questions, or to suggest options based on circumstances, needs and requirements.

“We are rather excited about these activities,” said Ms Harrington “Our services are free and available for those who are employed, unemployed, at risk of redundancy, returning to the labour market or are at risk of being not in education, employment or training (NEET).”

Inspira and thousands of other organisations help transform the lives of jobseekers and their communities in their local area. UK Employability Day is a crucial day of recognition for the employment support sector and underlines the critical work of providers.
