[A] Cumbrian law firm has been re-appointed to a major panel to provide legal services to the education sector.

Burnetts, which has offices in Carlisle, Penrith, Cockermouth & Newcastle, has been appointed to the Legal Services Framework Panel of the Crescent Purchasing Consortium (CPC), which has more than 5,000 member organisations from the school, academy, further education and higher education sectors. Burnetts is the only law firm in Cumbria on the panel.

Partner & Head of Education Natalie Ruane led Burnetts’ bid team. She said, “The Crescent Purchasing Consortium is a great opportunity for us to further develop our base of education clients throughout the North and it gives our existing clients an extra layer of reassurance that we have been independently assessed.”

Natalie continued “A considerable amount of work goes into putting together these tender proposals with the process often lasting many months, but because we want to grow our business, it’s important for us to invest that time. We know we work extremely hard to give our education clients an excellent service, but it is gratifying to see our quality processes and service standards being recognised.”

Education is one of Burnetts’ specialist areas with the firm recently being top-ranked in the region by the Legal 500 which described the team as “exceptional”. The firm advises numerous Colleges, Schools and Academies in the region with HR and Employment Law services being a particular strength.

The CPC is a purchasing consortium, owned and run by the education sector, which provides its members with specialist advice on best spending practices and how to obtain best value for money. Its main purpose is to produce EU-tendered purchasing frameworks which cover a wide variety of products and services in line with members’ needs. The CPC operates as a not-for-profit organisation, meaning that any surpluses generated are invested back into member support and wider services.
