[A] 34-year-old man arrested following an incident in Whitehaven in which a man suffered serious head injuries has today been charged with grievous bodily harm.
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “Paul Gunn, of Thornfield Close, Cleator Moor, has been charged and appeared at Workington Magistrates’ Court today (15 Aug, 2018).
“He was bailed to an address outside the county and is due to appear at Carlisle Crown Court on 17 September 2018.”
The incident occurred at around midnight (13 Aug into 14 Aug) opposite the Whittington Cat pub.
The victim, a 37-year-old man from the Whitehaven area, suffered a serious head injury after being punched to the face and falling to the ground.
The injured man remains in hospital at the RVI in Newcastle in a critical but stable condition.
