Carus Green golf club’s Junior Captain, Harriet Barker, has proved her talent once again by winning not only the Club Junior Championship for 2018, but the Ladies Championship too! The Ladies tournament, which took place on Saturday 1st September, saw Harriet, 16, play rounds of 75 and 77 over 36 holes, winning by 11 shots. She then took the Junior title the following day.
Playing off a handicap of just three, it’s now the fourth consecutive year that Harriet has won the Ladies Championship and the promising young golfer has had a tremendous season, having also won the Cumbria County Ladies Championship and Summer Trophy. She was presented with the Clarice Rose Trophy by Carus’s Lady Captain, Ali Dufty. Ladies runner-up was Carus Green’s Golf Manager and Moulie Moore County Vets Best Nett champion, Margaret Bebington. Ladies Nett Champion is Janet Ingham who, with a score of 134, pipped Diane Billington to the post by two strokes.
“As predicted, Harriet has had a great season; to hold this title for four years in a row is impressive,” said her coach, Carus’s Head Professional, Dave Turner. “We are starting to see some extremely talented young players coming up through the ranks now at Carus and Harriet is a real inspiration to these youngsters developing and progressing their game.”
“I’m very happy to have won this title for the fourth time and winning the junior title was the cherry on the cake!” said Queen Katherine School pupil, Harriet.
