Woman seriously injured in Carlisle collision

Police are investigating the circumstances around a serious road traffic collision that occurred at 7:45pm on Monday 1st October, 2018.

A 51-year-old local woman was walking across the zebra crossing outside the shops on Petteril Bank Road, Carlisle, when she was in collision with a silver Vauxhall Corsa being driven from the London Road direction.

A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “The woman suffered a serious head injury. After initial treatment at the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle she was transferred to the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle.

“A local man, aged 20, was driving the Vauxhall and he was uninjured.”

Anyone with any information or who witnessed the crash should contact police quoting log 229 of 1st October 2018.
