The H&H Group PLC has today announced the appointment of Colin Tomlinson as Managing Director for its growing land agency business, H&H Land and Property Ltd (HHL&P), one of the foremost Chartered Surveyors companies in the North of England and Scottish Borders.

During the last three years, Colin has been a Director of HHL&P, with specific responsibility for the management of the five Estate Agency Offices and managing the Land Agency, rural property sales, farms and land in the south of the Cumbria. In stepping up to the role of MD, Colin will lead the teams and further develop business across the company’s offices in Carlisle, Kendal, Durham, Grange-over-Sands and Newtown St Boswells in the Scottish Borders.

Commenting on his appointment earlier today Colin said: “I am delighted and thrilled with the opportunity to build on the platform created over the last two years. I look forward with enthusiasm and immense pride, to working with our highly motivated teams and to the new challenges and opportunities that the role will bring.

Going forward, my aim is to make a difference to this highly professional and diverse business, playing on our strengths. Yes, these are testing times, particularly in the present housing market and in a competitive environment. I have a rolling vision for the continued success of the business and I want to ensure it continues to evolve in all areas. We will develop and enhance our brand to increase awareness throughout the farming and land-owning communities and the residential property markets across the regions in which we operate.”

HHL&P is a business which during the last seven years, has increased its turnover, geographical areas in which it operates and the number of staff it employs. Today, its 50 members of highly qualified and specialist staff provide a range of professional rural and property services to clients across the North of England and Southern Scotland.

On announcing his appointment, Richard Rankin, CEO of H&H Group Plc, said: “This adds real kudos for us, and we are thrilled that someone of Colin’s stature, who is so well-known across Cumbria, has agreed to take up this key position within the company. Colin is well respected within the industry and he has an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the markets in which we operate, I know that he will use these key strengths to take the business forward to the next level.”

Colin, from Kendal in Cumbria, is the former Managing Director and Owner of Kendal-based Michael CL Hodgson, prior to its merger with H&H Land and Property in 2015. He has over 40 years with the company, joining it in 1977 from The Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester. He is a Land Agent, Auctioneer, Fellow of The Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and Fellow of the Association of Agricultural Valuers.

HHL&P has established a network of Estate Agents across the North, Cumbria and The Borders, together with Michael CL Hodgson. MCLH are Chartered Surveyors, Land Agents, Estate Agents, Auctioneers & Valuers with two offices serving the south of the county. Combined, these branches at Carlisle, Penrith, Kendal and Grange-over-Sands are gaining an increasingly significant market share in the Cumbrian property market. Including the Estate Agents Offices, there are eight offices, including Durham and St Boswells.
