Lakes College

Lakes College are proud to announce that they have been ranked fifth in the country for employer satisfaction according to the 2017/18 government survey, the highest rank in our county.

The survey, which is ran by the Education and Skills Funding Agency, offers employers the opportunity to rate their experience with educational providers in regards to the service and training they have received for their staff. This fantastic achievement follows the college’s recent success at the CN Golden Apples where they were named the Further Education Provider of the Year.

The survey shows that overall employer satisfaction rates have fallen in comparison to the previous year in the further education section with only 84.4% of employers feeling satisfied about general further education colleges.

Lakes College’s vision is to be ‘a high quality technical college that enables people to secure employment, progress and develop careers meeting employers’ skills needs’. This vision demonstrates their commitment to the government technical education reforms. The college plays a key role in the West Cumbrian economy and its communities, by providing a broad and deep range of vocational and technical education from Level 1 to degree level, in partnership with many hundreds of employers throughout the region.

An example of this is the apprentice programmes which are developed in conjunction with employers to support skills and cultural requirements. Training packages are designed to ensure that off the job training in college underpins on the job employer specific training with additional technical and behavioural components to support a workforce for the future. Training and assessment is tailored to employer needs and flexed to suit the needs of the business.
