Three familiar faces from BBC North West Tonight will lead a 100 mile relay walk through streets, villages and town centres across the region to raise money for BBC Children In Need.

Presenters Roger Johnson, Annabel Tiffin and Dianne Oxberry will be joined by Pudsey Bear as they walk from Walney Island in Cumbria to the Wirral coastline.

Annabel and Roger will start the relay by walking 20 miles on the first day and then other BBC NWT presenters and reporters will join throughout the course of the week. Twenty miles will be covered each day on a relay basis (Monday 12 to Friday 16 November) and the news team will meet local charities that have benefited from BBC Children in Need along the way.

The team are hoping people will come out and support them on their 100 mile route as they Plod for Pudsey in all weather conditions.

The route starts at Earnsea Point on Walney Island in Barrow-in-Furness finishing up on Friday afternoon in Wallasey village on the Wirral. The five-day journey takes in the following places:

Day 1: Barrow-in-Furness, Dalton in Furness, Lindal in Furness, Swarthmoor and Ulverston (led by Roger Johnson and Annabel Tiffin)

Day 2: Bolton Le Sands, Lancaster, Heysham and Morecambe (led by Beccy Barr and Richard Askam)

Day 3: Fleetwood, Cleveleys, Bispham, North Blackpool and South Blackpool (led by Dianne Oxberry and Stuart Flinders)

Day 4: Southport, Crosby Formby, Bootle and Liverpool (led by Roger Johnson and Beccy Barr)

Day 5: New Brighton, Leasowe and back to Wallasey (led by Annabel Tiffin and Dianne Oxberry)

The full route detailing which streets the presenters will be walking on and on which days can be viewed online at bbc.co.uk/nwt from Friday 9 November. Donations to BBC Children in Need can also be made online.

Roger Johnson said: “BBC Children in Need is my favourite time of the year. So many people in the North West give generously and it’s a privilege to meet those whose lives are changed. Plod for Pudsey will give us chance to meet lots of fundraisers and those who’ve been helped, so I’m really looking forward to it. Hopefully we’ll add a few pounds to this year’s total as we walk – and lose a few, too!”
