COPELAND Borough Council and Whitehaven Harbour Commissioners are supporting Sunday’s Christmas lights switch-on event in Whitehaven by offering free parking.

Copeland Council is offering free parking all day in the car parks it operates in Whitehaven: School House Lane, Senhouse Street, Whitehaven Sports Centre, Copeland Centre, The Ginns, The Beacon Museum and North Shore.

Whitehaven Harbour Commissioners is offering free parking from noon at Quay Street North and South, Wellington Inn, Tangier Street and Queens Dock.

Mike Starkie, Mayor of Copeland, said: “We’re pleased to support what is sure to be a tremendous event for Whitehaven.

“The organisers of the lights switch-on event deserve every credit for the work they put in to host this family event, and I’m sure it will kick off the festive season in style.”

Jimmy Kyle, Whitehaven Harbour Commissioners’ Operations Manager, said: “We are happy to support Copeland Council and the town by offering free parking for the switch-on of the Christmas lights.”

Please note that only the named car parks are subject to the free parking. There are a number of other privately-run car parks in town that are subject to their own pricing policy.
