Border Motor Group, the business which operates seven dealerships in Carlisle and South West Scotland, has welcomed three new managers to further enhance the team.

Andrew Brinsden has re-located to the City from the Birmingham area, to take up the newly-created position of assistant sales manager, Toyota. He brings with him his wife Katie and twenty year old son. Andrew has over thirty years experience in the industry and continues to enjoy his working life, as he has always been motivated by meeting new people. He said: “One of the key considerations for me in joining Border Motor Group was the opportunity to work for a family business. It is incredibly important to me that I feel part of a united team.”

Andrew enjoys walking his dogs and mountain biking around the County.

Simon Todd, sales manager at Border Toyota Carlisle commented: “it’s a real pleasure to have someone as experienced as Andrew on the team; he brings a wealth of personal and commercial experience and this new role has been introduced to support our team through our expansion and beyond.”

Adrian Wilkinson has joined the group as after-sales manager, re-locating to the city from South Africa. Adrian has worked with the Toyota Brand for 27 years, from starting as an apprentice through technician and foreman roles. He is looking forward to his wife Natalie and five children joining him in the very near future.

Adrian is enjoying the heritage of the area and is making the most of the outdoors “It is amazing to live in an area of such history and beauty; in my home country, not much is over 150 years old. My son Christopher is a very keen Tri-Athlete and he cannot wait to get here and experience the outdoors, whilst improving his performance.”

Finally, the group are delighted to announce the promotion of one of their team, to the role of assistant sales manager, Hyundai. Nicola Smith, who has been working with the group for 18 months, took up her new role a few weeks ago. Nicola is from Carlisle and continues to enjoy living in the area with her partner. She is a very keen footballer and plays for Newlaithes, having been passionate about playing football since the age of six.

Nicola said: “I am excited by this opportunity; I enjoy the industry as I love meeting people and learning about the different makes and models of cars. Plus, I have found I really enjoy helping customers find their ideal car, whatever their needs.”

Rob Westgarth, head of business for Carlisle Toyota, Hyundai and Lexus commented: “It’s key to our sustainable business plan that we continue to attract and retain the best team members. This new role of assistant sales manager has been created to support our team and customers and I am sure we will see the benefit very quickly within our business. I am extremely pleased that we have been able to promote from within – the ideal solution when recruiting for new roles. I would like to wish all three the very best in their careers with Border Motor Group.”

The group has recently made significant investment in a major redevelopment project outside their Toyota and Hyundai showrooms in Carlisle. Ultimately this development will allow for greater numbers of vehicles being available on-site for customers to experience a broader range from each dealership. Works commenced Monday 29th October and will continue for a period of five weeks.

Border Motor Group operates car dealerships at seven locations; Carlisle, Dumfries and St.Boswells. Brands are Toyota, Hyundai, SKODA, VW (used cars) and Lexus.
