Two men arrested by officers investigating the attempted theft of an ATM in the early hours of Tuesday morning (27 Nov) have been charged with offences.
Cumbria Police were called at around 2.30am to a report on an attempted theft of an ATM from the Spar in Hensingham.
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “Jonathan Mackenzie, 31, of Otterburn Close, Darlington, County Durham and Mark Cooke, 37, of Pearson Street, Spennymoor, County Durham were subsequently arrested and the ATM was recovered nearby.”
Both men have been charged with conspiring to steal and production of cannabis and have been remanded to appear at Workington Magistrates’ Court today (30 November).
Detective Inspector Matt Scott said: “Whilst we do have two suspects appearing in court today, we are continuing our work to identify and arrest others allegedly involved in this incident.
“I would continue to urge anyone with information which could assist our detectives to come forward.”
