  • Friday 28th will be carried out on Sunday 30th

For the week commencing Monday 31 December 2018, collections will take place as normal on the Monday. There will be no collections on Tuesday 1 January and following this all refuse and recycling will be picked up one day later than normal. Therefore collections will be as follows:

  • Monday 31st December will be carried out as normal
  • Tuesday 1st January will be carried out on Wednesday 2nd
  • Wednesday 2nd will be carried out on Thursday 3rd
  • Thursday 3rd will be carried out on Friday 4th
  • Friday 4th will be carried out on Saturday 5th

If you would like your real or artificial Christmas tree collected, please place it next to your general waste on your specified collection day. Alternatively, you can take them to your local Household Waste Recycling Centre.

Residents can visit www.allerdale.gov.uk/bincollections to check bin collection dates, report a missed collection, and check for any severe weather that could affect collections.

All Household Waste Recycling Centres are run by Cumbria County Council. Please visit their website http://www.cumbria.gov.uk/ for details of opening hours during the seasonal period.

Office opening dates/times:

Allerdale House in Workington and the Council’s telephone lines will be closed from 4:30pm on Friday 21 December 2018 until 9am on Wednesday 2 January 2019. The Customer Contact Centres Keswick, Maryport and Wigton will close at the same time and will reopen at 9am on Wednesday 2 January 2018. The area office in Cockermouth, which is based in the library on Main Street, will reopen at 10am on the same day.

During this period the emergency out-of-hours number is 0303 123 1702.

Allerdale Borough Council’s website http://www.allerdale.gov.uk/ can be accessed 24-hours a day, seven days a week. There is a secure online payment facility as well as specific pages to report any problems; from dog fouling to noise pollution.
