Four arrested after Penrith armed robbery

A man and three youths were arrested overnight by officers investigating a robbery at a cash point in Penrith.

Cumbria Police were called at 6pm on Wednesday (16 Jan) to a report that a woman had been robbed of a bag.

A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “The victim of the robbery was shaken but unhurt.

“Officers attended and a knife was recovered from the scene.

“Officers working through the night have made four arrests. A 19-year-old, a 16-year-old and a 14-year-old have been arrested on suspicion of robbery. A second 16-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. All are male and reside in the Penrith area.

“Detectives are keen to hear from anyone with information about this incident who has yet to come forward.

“They are particularly keen to hear from anyone who was in the area of Barclays Bank in Penrith at around 6pm.”
