Police Scotland have confirmed that a 13-year-old female pupil has been arrested following the report of an assault on a 13-year-old male pupil at Dumfries Academy earlier today (Thursday 17 January 2019).
Around 10 am this morning police responded to reports a pupil had been injured.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “A 13-year-old boy who is a pupil at the school suffered a minor injury that did not require any hospital treatment.
“A knife was recovered during the incident and the boy was treated for a superficial injury following the assault.
“Enquiries are at an early stage and officers are working with staff and pupils to establish the circumstances.
“A report is being prepared for the Procurator Fiscal.
“There is no risk to any pupils or staff and the school day will continue.”
