Cumbria Business Growth Hub is helping local contractors win work with the construction giant Engie Regeneration.

Engie has been selected by Home Group to build 83 homes at Burgh Road, Carlisle, and 96 properties at Carleton Avenue, Penrith, and is looking to procure sub-contractors.

The Growth Hub’s Supply Chain Opportunity Club is hosting a meet-the-buyer event with Engie at the North Lakes Hotel, Penrith, on the morning of Monday March 11th.

Potential sub-contractors will be able to meet Engie’s team to learn more about the opportunities available.

Eva Foran, Supply Chain Development Manager at Cumbria Chamber of Commerce, the lead partner in the Growth Hub, said: “We set up the Club to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) win work with larger organisations.

“Not only can we provide introductions at events like this, we can help Cumbrian SMEs meet the necessary procurement criteria and attain any accreditations if needed.

“All this support is free to eligible businesses.”

This is the third event run by the Supply Chain Opportunity Club since its launch last year.

Earlier sessions introduced Cumbrian businesses to buyers from TSP Engineering in Workington and supermarket Booths.

Engie is looking for sub-contractors with experience in working on new-build sites who have skills in brickwork, fencing, ceramic tiling, flooring, loft insulation, groundworks, joinery, painting and decorating, plastering, piling, tiling, scaffolding, screeding, the installation of UPVC windows, electrical installations, tarmacadam and other trades.

The company also wants to meet builders’ merchants and timber merchants.

Steven Gregory, Head of Construction at Engie Regeneration, said: “We are delighted to have secured key projects within Cumbria to strengthen our offering within the region.

“Our emphasis on ‘local focus’ will provide local jobs and opportunities for businesses and we are excited to start building long-lasting relationships as we invest.”
