Workington Town Council have teamed up with Margrange Electrical Ltd of Whitehaven to bring the latest LED lighting technology to Vulcan Park in Workington. The specialist lighting engineers offered their services when the park’s central lighting column failed in the run up to Christmas. Now the 30m tower rig benefits from eight new 50-watt LED lighting heads donated by Margrange and installed by their skilled engineers.

Thanking them for their generosity, Mayor of Workington, Cllr Barbara Cannon said: “It is firms like this that keep West Cumbria going. We’re very grateful to OJ Sharma and his team for helping us restore light to the park.”

Cllr Denise Rollo, who chairs the Town Council’s Environment Committee added: “From dog walkers to early morning joggers, there’s a lot of people who rely on the park being well lit in the darker months. It’s brilliant that Margrange Electrical could help us with this.”

The Town Council is currently drawing up plans for the park’s refurbishment following its acquisition from Allerdale Borough Council in the summer of 2018.
