Police name man and teenager killed in A74(M) crash

Police Scotland has released the names of the two people who died in a fatal road traffic collision on the A74(M) near Eaglesfield on Thursday 2 May 2019 as 57-year-old David John Walton, who was driving the vehicle, and 17-year-old Joshua Hatton-Emery, who was a passenger in the vehicle.

Both were from Stoke on Trent.

At around 6.15am on Thursday 2 May 2019. a two vehicle road traffic collision occurred on the northbound carriageway of the A74(M) between Junctions 20 and 21.

An articulated lorry and a van were in collision.

As a result, the 57-year-old male driver of the van and his 17-year-old male passenger were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the articulated lorry was uninjured.

The road was closed to allow for a full crash scene investigation to take place and diversions were put in place.

Enquiries into the cause of collision and ongoing and the Procurator Fiscal has been informed.
