Wainwrights’ Inn at Chapel Stile, part of the Langdale Estate, is hosting a huge celebration of all things cycling over the weekend of the 11th and 12th of May.

On Saturday the 11th of May it is teaming up with Wheels For All and Kendal Cycling Club and hosting the inaugural Langdale Wheels For All Sportive: an inclusive cycling event which follows a beautifully scenic 4.5 mile inclusive cycle route, mostly off public roads, through the Langdale Estate and along a track by Elterwater with fantastic views.  The route is suitable for adapted bikes and all participants must be accompanied.  It commences at Wainwrights’ at 11am and there will be medals for every participant.  It costs £5 per adapted bike user to enter, with family and carers accompanying going free.

On Sunday the 12th of May Wainwrights’ Inn will be a fan-zone for the Fred Whitton Challenge, providing the perfect spot for spectators to watch one of the UK’s most popular cycling events pass by. The 112 mile sportive around the Lake District, starting at Grasmere and taking in climbs of Kirkstone, Honister, Newlands, Whinlatter, Hardknott & Wrynose passes, goes straight past Wainwrights’ Inn and the pub will be well-prepared, with an outdoor bar sponsored by Estrella, oversized deckchairs and great food on offer.

Nick Lancaster, Managing Director of Langdale Estate said: “This will be a great weekend to pack a picnic, get out in the fresh air, support a brilliant inclusive cycling event AND watch elite cyclists tackling one of the UK’s toughest cycling challenges.  Everyone is welcome, it’s free to watch both events and both will make for a great day out!”

Kath Finn, Project Coordinator for Wheels For All said: “We are really pleased to be partnering with Wainwrights’ inn on the Langdale Wheels For All Sportive.  The weekend will be an amazing celebration of cycling for EVERYONE and that’s really special.  We can’t wait!”
