Carlisle Sling Library CIC are now offering monthly drop in sling meet session at the Cumbria CVS Shaddongate Resource Centre in Carlisle.

The sessions take place on the first Saturday of every month from 10am to 1pm.

Carlisle Sling Library CIC has been on a mission over the past year to make carrying babies and children in slings accessible to all in and around Carlisle. Through drop in sling meet sessions, workshops and one to one consultations the volunteers at the sling library have worked hard to help free up hands enabling families to go about their daily routine, take on adventures and even to overcome health issues.

Becoming a parent can be socially isolating and the Sling Library provides a welcoming and supportive environment for families to benefit not only from the use of the carriers we have available to hire but also from the listening ears and the opportunity to form friendships with like-minded others. To help in the first few weeks we have a scheme to hire stretchy wraps out for free to parents of babies under 6 weeks

The move to the Shaddongate Resource Centre brings two community resources together to support the local people of Carlisle. Emma from Carlisle Sling Library had this to say about the new partnership, “Shaddongate Resource Centre is a central location with good transport links and accessible to all: wheelchair, pram or sling! The rooms are big, light and well maintained and the staff are incredibly helpful. We love teaming up with CVS because of the wealth of experience available to benefit from, and they go out of their way to help find solutions! The flexibility of options of space to rent is astounding too.”

Steve Golding, Venue Officer at Cumbra CVS said: “We are delighted to be able to support Carlisle Sling Library CIC with an accessable space for the monthly sling meetings. They join a host of other local groups that also use our fantastic building.”

You can currently find Carlisle Sling Library CIC on the first Saturday of each month from 10-1 at Shaddongate Resource Centre, and at Hebron Church on Botchergate on the third Saturday of each month also from 10-1. Recently new meets have been set up in Penrith on the 1st Friday of each month at The Bridge on Wordsworth Road.
