The Lakes Distillery is celebrating World Whisky Day in style by inviting people to join them on Saturday 18th May for the first dram of their new The One, Port Cask Finished, fine blended whisky.

At 46.6% abv, the new release is available exclusively to distillery visitors, before being launched internationally in July.

Following in the footsteps of The One’s award-winning Sherry expression, it is a singular blend of The Lakes Single Malt and select grain and malt whiskies from Speyside and Islay. The One Sherry was named ‘Best English Blended Limited Release Whisky (No Age Statement)’ at the 2019 World Whiskies Awards.

On World Whisky Day, near the shore of Bassenthwaite Lake, the distillery will open their iconic gates at 10am for special whisky tastings, tours and live music throughout the day. Bistro at the Distillery guests will also receive a complimentary ‘Old Fashioned’ whisky cocktail when they dine.

Paul Currie, co-founder of The Lakes Distillery, said: “World Whisky Day is about making whisky fun and enjoyable. It’s about being inclusive and accessible to everyone and, to mark the day, we have launched a brand new Port Cask Finish of our award-winning The One fine blended whisky.

“Saturday at the distillery is the first chance anyone will have to taste the depth in flavour of our new blend, which is full-bodied and smoky with ripe cherries and plums on the nose, with hints of nutmeg and black pepper on the palate.

“In keeping with the ethos of World Whisky Day, it is a whisky you can enjoy in whatever way you please, and we’re looking forward to welcoming people at the distillery to celebrate with us.”

You can book a distillery tour or table in the bistro at www.LakesDistillery.com.
